Fairfax County Reduces Library Hours

New Library Hours, Effective July 1. The Fairfax County Public Library system is reducing its hours as a result of a county decrease in revenues and a 15 percent cut to the library's fiscal year (FY) 2010 budget. Effective July 1, 2009, all library branches will close earlier Monday through Thursday; regional branches (Centreville, Chantilly, City of Fairfax, George Mason, Pohick, Reston, Sherwood, and Tysons-Pimmit) will be open 1:00–5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The new schedule effective July 1, 2009: Monday–Wednesday (all library branches) 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Thursday, Friday (all library branches) 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Saturday (all library branches) 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; and Sunday (regional branches only) 1–5 p.m.

Note that our nearest branch, Thomas Jefferson Library on Arlington Blvd just west of Loehmann's Corner, remains closed for renovation. The library is in a temporary location until the renovation is complete.
